"Siegfried" est un danger pour les metteurs en scène, y compris pour la méthode Tcherniakov qui y achoppe. Le héros malgré lui est détaillé en six phases expérimentales ou le ridicule l’emporte parfois sur le tragique lorsque, par exemple il se ballade avec dans son sac à dos l’épée brisée en deux qui ne saurait occire Fafner. L’objet est pourtant simple : faire dévorer le héros par le souvenir de plus en plus omniprésent de son enfance qui rendra improbable et en tous cas vaine l’étreinte avec Brünnhilde. Dommage, car Anja Kampe, que j’attendais ici, est fabuleuse, ayant repris son timbre glorieux et affirmé sa voix où passe comme le souvenir de celle d’Hildegard Behrens. D’ailleurs on pourra se passer de l’image, tant la qualité musicale domine, du Wanderer amer, corrosif de Michael Volle (Tcherniakov lui impose une quasi présence continuelle, le mettant constamment aux aguets) au Mime toujours aussi acide de Stephan Rügamer, le mordant du baryton de Johannes Martin Kränzle fait hiatus avec le déambulateur qui l’encombre, Peter Rose est assez irrésistible en dragon réduit à l’état de meurtrier schizophrène, surtout Andreas Schlager réinvente l’aura mythique du parfait Heldentenor, tous trouvant dans la direction ample de Christian Thielemann autant une source d’inspiration qu’un constant défis.
