 Fondé en 2020 en plein COVID, le Fairy Guitar Quartet, composés de quatre jeunes guitaristes italiens s’est donné l’objectif de populariser le répertoire argentin. Ce disque en s’intitulant "Volver" préconise un retour vers une musique empreinte de duende et de nostalgie. Entre 1876 et 1914 une importante vague d’italiens, d’espagnols et de français émigrent en Argentine. L’ensemble de ces influences fusionnera dans un nouveau genre musical : le Tango, brassage originaire du Rio de la Plata. On ne présente plus Carlos Gardel ni Astor Piazzolla qui font l’objet de la moitié du programme ni même Ariel Ramirez (L’auteur incontournable de la "Missa Criolla") mais les trois autres musiciens argentin méritent l’intérêt. Anibal Troilo bandonéoniste et auteur compositeur est ici représenté par deux morceaux dont son tube "Che Bandoneon". Gustavo Leguizamon qui fut par ailleurs député péroniste, par une intimiste "zamba del carnaval" chantée ici par Mariapia Napoli d’une voix plantureuse. Le chanteur auteur compositeur Daniel Toro, spécialiste de la ballade romantique, signe lui une "zamba para olvidarte" offrant l’occasion d’un joli duo vocal. Notons in fine que toutes les pièces enregistrées dans cet album sont arrangées pour les quatre guitares et facultativement pour une ou deux voix et qu’elles s’en accommodent très bien.
