The album uses the concept of combining text, music and their interpretation into a coherent whole. The author of the music is a Belgian composer, a continuator of the thought of Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt, who, in opposition to the dominant postserialism, developed his own style balancing between lyricism and grotesque. The author of the lyrics is a Belgian writer, Alain van Kerckhoven, who attaches great importance to the musicality of the text and the emotional expression of the performers. In his works, he weaves philosophical themes into everyday life, reaches for the rhetoric of symbolism and fantastic realism. The interpretation of these extraordinary works was undertaken by the talented Japanese soprano Yuhmi Suke Iwamoto, educated and active on the music market in Belgium, which is also the case of the members of the accompanying ensemble. Together, they take listeners into the world of reflection on the nature of alchemical experiments and into the world of analogy between working on oneself and the search for rare minerals, such as beryl, from which the title of the album comes.
