La vie du compositeur Karol Anbild né en Silésie en 1925 a été fortement perturbée par la seconde guerre mondiale. Mobilisé dans l’armée allemande, il déserte et rejoint les forces armées polonaises en exil. Revenu en Pologne, il sera contraint d’abandonner momentanément son nom à consonnance germanique. Si ses études musicales sont d’autant retardées, il les achève brillamment après la guerre et devient contrebassiste dans l’orchestre de Silésie, puis chef d’orchestre ainsi qu’un compositeur réputé. Sous l’administration soviétique, il est relégué à Kielce dont l’orchestre deviendra sous sa direction l’un des meilleurs de Pologne. Particulièrement inspirée par la musique populaire, son répertoire est aussi abondant que diversifié. Cet enregistrement présente trois œuvres caractéristiques faisant référence à plusieurs modèles. L’imposant concerto pour piano de style néo-classique qui se réfère à Chostakovitch, Szymanowski et Prokofiev et la Rhapsodie pour piano prend Gershwin pour référence ("Rhapsody in blue" et Concerto pour piano). Ces œuvres sont magnifiquement interprétées par le pianiste Artur Jaron. Quant au poème symphonique "Echo Gór Swetokrzyskich" (Echos de la Montagne de la Sainte-Croix), il est inspiré par un chant régional. L’Orchestre Symphonique de Kielce dirigé par Jacek Rogala le restitue ici avec un élan impressionnant. (Jean-Noël Regnier)

The album presents pieces by Karol Anbild (1925–2008), a composer associated with the Kielce land for most of his life, a longtime director of the Kielce Philharmonic. Concise compositions maintained in a Neoclassical, eclectic style attract the attention of the listener with rich instrumentation and beauty and panache of musical motifs. We will find hereechoes of Polish melodies and folk dances, in the third movement of the concerto and in the poem Echo Gór Swietokrzyskich, based on a Kielce song. The Rhapsody, in turn, is a piece in a light jazz style, a tribute to Gershwin’s output. Artur Jaron is a pianist born in Kielce, active both as a soloist and chamber musician. He brilliantly overcomes the difficult matter of Anbild’s works, finding an excellent partner in the Swietokrzyskie Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of its director, Jacek Rogala. The album is strongly associated with the Kielce region, showing a fragment of its rich artistic heritage.
