Fureur et miséricorde...Quel compositeur sut, mieux que Vivaldi, mettre en musique ces passions contraires ? C'est tout naturellement vers lui que se tourne la grande soprano néerlandaise Channa Malkin quand elle nous déclare : "Je me suis abandonnée au plaisir sensuel de laisser la rage m'envahir". Et c'est de cette rage qu'est né cet album "Fury/Mercy" : entre airs d'opéra (La fida ninfa, l'Atenaïde, Tito Manlio), d'oratorio (Juditha triumphans), de motets sacrés (In furore iustissima irae) cet album plonge dans les extrêmes du spectre émotionnel humain, de la rage brûlante à la tendre compassion. C'est tout juste si quelques brefs joyaux instrumentaux peu connus de Vivaldi (le concerto en ré majeur "madrilesco" RV 129) et celui en sol mineur (joliment interprétés par la Sfera Armonica sous la direction de Mike Fentross) nous accordent quelques minutes pour souffler dans ce torrent émotionnel. It then journeys through the thunderous outcry of Armatae face et anguibus from Juditha Triumphans, into the serene and redemptive beauty of the motet In furore iustissimae irae. Along the way, the album draws on lesser-known Vivaldi gems—such as the Concerto in D Minor “Madrigalesco”—all chosen and interpreted with the intent to reveal the transformative power of emotion through music.
