CD intitulé concertos pour violon vol.9 mais pour la plupart écrits pour deux violons et se rapprochant par leur forme au concerto grosso. Plus exactement on dénombre : un concerto pour alto, quatre pour deux violons, un concerto pour violon solo et un concerto pour cordes. À l’écoute, aucune surprise. Soit une musique gracieuse et bien écrite mais manquant singulièrement d’inspiration (Reproche souvent récurrent au sujet de la musique de Telemann.) Le concerto pour alto m’a semblé cependant échapper à cette critique, joué comme il se doit avec un bel entrain. Également, un beau grave d’introduction au TWV 52 suivi d’un intéressant allegro très virtuose. Mais dans l’ensemble, les morceaux s’enchaînent sans vraiment captiver l’auditeur bien que l’interprétation soit indéniablement d’un excellent niveau d’ensemble. Donc en résumé, peu de mouvements parviennent à séduire, mais est-ce bien le but de cette production, puisqu’il s’agit là du volume 9 d’une intégrale et à ce titre on ne peut blâmer l’effort louable d’exhaustivité recherché. Everything has an end sometime. Similarly, this chapter from the great book of Georg Philipp Telemann, which holds a significant place in our label's repertoire, is also noteworthy. After two decades, we have now recorded all the violin concertos that this artesian spring of music committed to paper with overflowing imagination throughout his lifetime. This presents more than three dozen entertaining works, some in expanded suite (overture) form, others in the standard three-movement structure—but always rich in subtle surprises and demanding solos involving up to four violins. This ninth and final volume is once again devoted to concertante duos and contains, as it were, as a bonus, "the" Viola Concerto in G major, which until our series appeared was widely regarded as Telemann's most "popular" contribution to the genre. Now, however, entirely new perspectives open up...
