Mozart Transcriptions dépoque pour flûte et cordes Lupo Ensemble à LAntica

Inspiré plus par sa dimension narrative de la flûte (...Enchantée) que par sa sonorité, Mozart écrivit plutôt pour ses commanditaires flûtistes que pour l'instrument lui-même : quatre quatuors et deux concertos (Qu'y a-t-il de pire qu'une flûte ? Deux flûtes ! disaient les mauvaises langues). Les nombreuses transcriptions d’œuvres de Mozart réalisées à l'époque dont celles d'Antoine Hugo, professeur au conservatoire de Paris et du plus célèbre Franz Anton Hoffmeister et destinées aux ensembles de chambre amateurs, replacèrent l'instrument à leur façon et à sa juste place dans le champ mozartien. La flûte traversière de Luigi Lupo est d'ailleurs ici primus inter pares remplaçant le hautbois dans la Quatuor en Sol Majeur Kv370, ici paré d''une lumière inédite, ou les cors de basset, le basson ou la clarinette d'Anton Stadler prévus initialement dans les Divertimentos pour trio Kv439. Le disque est complété d'une saisissante transcription de la Sonate pour piano K311 signée Hoffmeister pour le même effectif. Le trio à cordes sur instruments anciens A L'Antica offre un accompagnement de timbres somptueux qui sert merveilleusement les divins échanges chambristes de l'écriture de Mozart. On en redemande. In the second half of 18th century, the practice of transcription began to spread, which – in an era without sound reproduction instruments – made it possible to listen to the arias of the operas of the moment and the symphonies that had just been performed in the theatre in a limited area such as the living room of an aristocratic residence or the home of a rich bourgeois. The transcription had the great merit of spreading the masterpieces of the most celebrated masters among a very wide audience and generating a flourishing publishing market, which drew on the growing number of amateur musicians scattered throughout Europe. In this very pleasant disc the original instrument ensemble À L’Antica makes its debut in the Elegia catalogue with a programme entirely dedicated to Mozart, which sees it involved in a formation composed by Luigi Lupo (flute), Rossella Croce (violin), Luigi Azzolini (viola) and Rebeca Ferri (cello). The program comprises the Quartet K. 370 – originally conceived for flute and strings – in the transcription of the famous 18th century flutist Antoine Hugot, the Piano Sonata K. 311 “arranged” for quartet by the composer Franz Anton Hoffmeister and three trios for flute, violin and cello, which a skilful transcriber, whose name we have not yet heard, obtained from the Divertimenti for basset horn and bassoon K. 439b. A very stimulating record, which allows you to appreciate a side of Mozart as fresh as unpublished.
