S’il est une idée que partagent Kurt Weill, Igor Stravinski, Darius Milhaud et le violoniste Gabriele Pieranunzi, c’est celle que la musique classique n’est pas nécessairement conformiste. Le virtuose italien, ancien lauréat du concours Nicolo Paganini, nous en fait une démonstration parfaite avec trois œuvres enregistrées en concert au théâtre San Carlo de Naples. D’abord dans le concerto pour violon opus 12 de Weill, dans lequel le jeune élève de Busoni choisit de façon inhabituelle un orchestre à vent pour répondre au soliste. Puis dans “l’Histoire du Soldat”, opéra de chambre composé par Stravinski et utilisant la parole et le mime aux côtés d’une musique aux airs de jazz ou de tango. Enfin dans la suite opus 157b pour violon, clarinette et piano, une musique de scène écrite par Milhaud pour “Le Voyageur sans bagage”, premier grand succès théâtral de l’écrivain Jean Anouilh. The San Carlo Theatre live: this CD presents, for the first time ever, two extraordinary recordings, that took place in two different moments, on the stage of the oldest Operas Theatre of Europe. Sir Jeffrey Tate’s rod initiates the program, conducting the Concerto for violin & wind orchestra by Kurt Weill and the inspired violin of the soloist Gabriele Pieranunzi; the other recording, the latest one, presents another big protagonist of the music scene, Enrico, Gabriele’s brother, who is playing, together with clarinettist Alessandro Carbonare, a very classic repertoire for the first time. The introduction of the booklet, as well as the interview to the two Pieranunzi brothers, is by Stefano Valanzuolo, the musical critic of the newspaper Il Mattino of Naples: both help us to discover the many aspects of this release on the borderline of the musical styles (classic, popular, jazz) as well as of the roles of the interpreters.
