La mésalliance ou comment l’éviter ? Ressort classique du drame à l’opéra. Illustration avec Halka, jeune paysanne aimée puis abandonnée par Janusz, jeune homme de bonne famille, qui passera l’oeuvre à la fuir, avant d’épouser une jeune femme d’aussi bonne famille que lui, ce qui conduira Halka au désespoir et à la mort. Sur cet argument plutôt banal, Moniuszko compose une riche partition qui méritait largement cette somptueuse édition dans un élégant livre disque bien documenté. Pas de point faible dans cette distribution parfaitement idiomatique, où triomphent Lukasz Golinski, solide baryton qui allie la prestance du héros à la brutalité du traître, et Jolanta Wagner qui fait de son personnage une petite sœur de Lucia de Lammermoor. A la tête de l’orchestre de l’Opera Nova de Bydgoszcz, Piotr Wajrak, vrai chef de théâtre, exalte toutes les beautés de l’orchestration de Moniuszko. Dernière bonne surprise d’un disque qui en compte déjà beaucoup : une mise en scène sobre et au service de la musique, c’est devenu suffisamment rare pour être souligné. Une très belle proposition. The year 2019, declared the Year of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872) by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and UNESCO, abounds in a series of events commemorating the work of the father of the Polish national opera. The Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz has also joined the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko, publishing DVDs with the performance of Halka in a star cast, directed by Natalia Babinska and under the baton of Piotr Wajrak. The producers of the Bydgoszcz show suggest a refreshed, reinterpreted view of Halka, finding a broader historical and social background therein, and looking for, also in the music that follows the truth about interpersonal relationships discovered “between the lines” in an extremely natural way, Moniuszko’s phenomenon, which escapes an easy categorisation.
