The discography of this Opera is quite limited. Beyond the RCA edition with Anna Moffo and Carlo Bergonzi and that by DECCA with Montserrat Caballé and Luciano Pavarotti, any other edition can be considered a ferrering point, neither those conduced by Maazel and Levine, that did not meet the favour of the critics. This version we are issuing is quite rare and the cast counts two among the most famous voices of the Sixties: Antonietta Stella and Giuseppe Di Stefano. They both have never recorded this Opera in studio, so this is really an occasion to consider this issue a contribution to the discography of an Opera of transiction in the Verdian catalog.
