Basée à Cologne, la pianiste allemande Marie Luise Hinrichs poursuit une discrète carrière de pianiste de concert. Elle a enregistré quelques disques consacrés au compositeur espagnol Antonio Soler et à Hildegarde von Bingen (Vocation 1019). Suite à une dépression, elle découvre cette grande figure mystique du haut moyen-âge. Elle transcrit alors ses pièces vocales au piano décrivant sa découverte (une véritable révélation spirituelle) et son travail de recomposition ainsi : " ...This music has a healing effect, it is flowing extremely free and natural, it is like an echo of the cosmos" Pour ce nouvel album "Visions", elle adjoint presque naturellement aux quelques pièces grégoriennes d’Hildegarde, des œuvres du duo Gurdjieff-Hartmann à base de mélodies arméniennes et ses propres compositions de tonalité orientalisante. L’ensemble, nonobstant les recherches harmoniques et rythmiques des pièces pré-citées, possède une indéniable vertu relaxante et hypnotique (les dix minutes du "O tu Suavissima virga" assez proches de la musique d’Erik Satie ou de Morton Feldman) et pourrait s’apparenter à une séance de méditation musicalement assistée. After the international success of “Vocation,” Marie-Luise Hinrichs again composed puristic impressions on songs by Hildgard of Bingen (1098–1179). She spans an arc to the present day and entrusts the flowing expanses of this music to her instrument, the piano. As if Hildegard of Bingen’s music was created for it, Marie-Luise Hinrichs improvises her own harmonies and melodies, devises new techniques – the plucking of the strings or tremolos on a single tone – and in this way lets her “piano songs” emerge. In addition, she performs compositions of the charismatic G. I. Gurdjieff, the founder of a spiritual system for the “inner evolution” of humankind. The award-winning pianist Marie-Luise Hinrichs has herself experienced the spiritual and healing effect of Hildegard of Bingen’s music.
