C'est en 1608 qu'a été publié le "Dramatodia" de Girolamo Giacobbi, mais cet intermède pour pièce pastorale a sans doute été représenté dès 1605 pour le mariage d'un notable bolonais, sous le titre d'"Aurora ingannata"(Aurore trompée). Ce qui en ferait la première pièce musicale théâtrale écrite en stile rappresentativo exécutée en dehors de Florence. De sujet mythologique simple et linéaire (l'impossible amour d'Aurore pour Céphale) la destination de ces quatre intermèdes était de s'intercaler entre les cinq actes d'une pastorale à l'intrigue plus complexe. C'est le seul intermède musical de Giacobbi qui nous soit parvenu. Girolamo Giacobbi a gravi un à un tous les échelons de la musique à la cathédrale San Petronio de Bologne, d'enfant de choeur à maître de chapelle. Il a également publié des motets, psaumes, vêpres, litanies a cappella ou en style concertant ; et plusieurs tragédies, dont l'Andromeda, en 1610, première tragédie en musique représentée à Bologne dans un théâtre public. Giacobbi a été un membre actif des académies qui animaient la vie musicale à Bologne. Si cette "Aurora ingannata" ne peut prétendre rivaliser avec l'Orfeo presque contemporain de Monteverdi, elle n'en est pas moins charmante, et l'ensemble Dramatodia a eu l'heureuse idée d'intercaler entre les différents tableaux de brefs morceaux instrumentaux d'Aurelio Bonelli, un organiste bolonais contemporain de Giacobbi. There was magnificent cultural vitality recorded in Bologna in the early seventeenth century, and it is always fascinating to grasp the links between academic undertakings and daily life, between the regular occurrences of festive occasions and the civic institutions. From this rich workshop of ideas, two centuries of splendour and eminent talents were to unfold, active in all fields of knowledge and the arts.The performance of the tragicomedy Filarmindo by Ridolfo Campeggi, which took place in 1605 to celebrate the wedding of Marquis Ferdinando Riario and Countess Laura Pepoli, was ‘stuffed’ – following a well-established theatrical practice – with the four intermezzi of Aurora Ingannata. The task of composing the music for these intermezzi was given to Girolamo Giacobbi, at the time the chapel master of the Basilica of San Petronio and highly respected professional. This memorable performance, preserved in the chronicles of the time, is masterfully revived by the ensemble Dramatodía (already featured in Il Festino del Giovedì Grasso by Adriano Banchieri, tc 550008), paying homage to the gem from which the ensemble takes its name.
