Short experimental miniatures, orchestral sound-cascades, moving grooves, reduction and complexity - surpassing the limits of jazz into new classical music, and from free improvisation to compositional artwork - "MONOLOG" is the solo debut from Fabian M. Mueller. Within Monolog a specially created world is questioned, taken apart and reassembled. Rehearsed perspectives are broken - the focus rearranged. The conscious perception of distance creates unusual interspaces and is the origin for a continuous dialog between the interior and exterior. This conflict within Monolog runs like a recurring fine thread throughout this album. Winning the Work Prize from canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden enabled Fabian M. Mueller to stay in Berlin for six months, immersing himself in the realisation of this solo-album. After intensive work with his trio "FM TRIO" and his two quartets "JALAZZ" and "BOX" he was able to let himself be inspired by the cultural metropolis and concentrate on working on his solo-programme. The recordings took place on the 8th/ 9th February 2010 in the Radio Studio DRS 2 in Zurich under the direction of director Peter Bürli and the sound-engineer Martin Pearson.
