The themes either are abstract or pick up a certain tradition. Some of them have a clear development, others dissolve in the void without losing their joyful spirit. The music is rich of flowing sounds but also stillness, demanding accurate listening, but the reward is lovely and dreamful. Following well-known paths, principles, and rules - wishing to create order: these are things which happen to and act upon us in an unchecked manner, disturbing and creating surprising relations, the other side of the coin. It is the ambivalence between these two planes which inspires "mono", the musical performance by the Swiss saxophonist Christoph Gallio.
