In the small discography of Hans Knapperscush, Richard Strauss' compositions are very rare, even if, already in 1928, he recorded excerpts taken from Salome and Till Eulenspiegel (this last one we are now publishing is taken from an excellent source on 78rmb). Very rare is the recording of the Alpensinfonie, which is not even mentioned in the fundamental discography by John Hunt. It is a live recording of 1952 (perfect mono quality) we think it is fundamental for all the collectors of the grat German conductor. We can say the same for the two Symphonies of Brahms, the Second and the Third, respectively of 1956 and 1955, with the addition of the performance of the Tragic Ouverture of 1957. In all cases the sound quality is of high-level.
