This double cd box collects rare interpretations of Kirill Kondrashin recorded in Mosca between 1958 and 1964, except Masquerade, which belongs to the recordings the Russian conductor performed in the US for RCA. The extraordinary stereophonic quality enhances the sound of "demonstrative" compositions such as The Bells by Rachmaninov or the Symphony No. 3 by Khachaturian, a masterwork that still nowadays it is not known as it deserves. The same is true for the Piano Concerto played by Yakov Flier, which we consider one of the higher masterworks of the last century. The fantasy and the phonic effects of this conduction are extraordinary.
