The choice of music pieces is a clear tribute to Italian concerts of the Baroque period, where string instruments are dominant, and is linked to the teaching project of the Zinaida Gilels Violin School, of which this CD is a first significant achievement. These musical selections require each musician to challenge themselves, both as a member of the orchestra and in the solo parts. The pieces selected present a wide range of difficulties, both from the technical, like Locatelli and Vivaldi, to the interpretative point of view, like Leo, and are assigned to the young musicians according to their educational experience. Compared to a classical orchestra, Baroque period music requires a smaller and relatively more intimate orchestra. In spite of their young age, The Archi di Zinaida, prepared by the Maestro Maria Caterina Carlini, challenge themselves by performing without a conductor, instead, becoming their own conductors. By developing their listening abilities, the group performs as one.
