Aida conduced by Toscanini rapresents one of the monument of Verdi's discography of the XX Century. It is not available on the market at the present but it is not only for this reason we are proposing a new version. And now we must underline a fact very important. All Verdian recordings by Toscanini were done for the NBC broadcasting. Only later these recordings have been taken by RCA for the commercial distribution. From the beginning this fact endorsed harsh sound and all focused on medium frequences. This was particulary suitable for the means of that time, that needed high volume and instrumental brilliance. All this has given an idea of a different sound of Toscanini's Orchestra, with flat dynamic and impoverish in coulors. t is in this way we have always listened to Aida up to the present. Urania got the original master and we have left the sound as it was, by restoring only the dynamic and the sound range. Everyone can judge the result of this new production on Urania that endoirsed the natural instrumental and vocal timbre, giving a new idea of Toscanini's approach to the Verdian Opera.
