"DUHO" performs a similar dialectic of free, literally sensual saxophone playing and drums played with splendid precision. The interplay of thesis and antithesis remains open, there is no way of anticipating its outcome, the flux of musical varieties end in surprising, unexpected ways. Fritz Hauser, located in Basel, and Urs Leimgruber, originally from Lucerne, now living in Paris, merge the pure sound of their instruments into a dense and perfect blend, the kind of synthesis that is so rare. This may sound poetic, but then again, there is no description that comes closer to what these two Swiss musicians achieve: A kind of contemporary musical poetry.
