The idea of a band being like a tree: The roots of a classical jazz quintet - saxophone, trumpet, piano, double bass and drums- grow from the earth that is the jazz of the 50ies and 60ies. Together, the musicians form the trunk around the music as suchas well as the compositions of double bass player Hagen Neye. The joint search for inspiration is the uniting factor. Rehearsalsand concerts are the tree's branches and fruit. Through the interplay between the forces of interpretation and improvisation, themusicians give centre stage to the moment.
