After three critically acclaimed albums with his trio, ECHO-award winning pianist Tim Allhoff now presents his first release as a solo-artist, "lovebox sessions". Honest, casual and charming - his solo-debut is a very personal work of art, which finds it's voice in it's simple authenticity. Handcrafted, with a living-room-atmosphere, yet surprisingly genuine and fresh. An old creaking piano, the warm sound of vintage-synthesizers, a dusty dulcimer, and an aged harmonium. For three weeks, the "Lovebox Studios" served as a musical incubator for Allhoff and his longtime friend and producer Michael Kamm. The result is a unique atmosphere, that beautifully highlights Allhoff's piano-driven compositions, but which is never intrusive.Those acquinted with the maginificent trio-albums of the 35-year-old will recognize his unique sound, which resurfaces in his original compositions, representing the major portion of the album. But Allhoff also reinterprets some of his personal favourites, presenting beautiful cover-versions, wherein he spans the range from Maurice Ravel to Thom Yorke. "lovebox sessions" is genuine and affectionate. Allhoff has arrived and needs surprisingly few tones for that.
