This album is a surprise for music lovers and admirers of 20th-century music. It features well-known pieces in a completely new version – transcribed for cello and piano, which makes us admire our old and good friends in a new, intriguing disguise. It is therefore also a gift for connoisseurs of such an ensemble and lovers of the sonic details it offers. The album opens with compositions by Karol Szymanowski (1882–1937) – ‘Roxana’s Song’ from the opera King Roger, Op. 46, usually known in the original vocal version or its violin transcription, and the Sonata in D Minor, Op. 9, in the original version for violin and piano – in this case, it was transcribed by Kazimierz Wilkomirski. The next pieces come from the compositional output of Rebecca Clarke (1886–1979) and were originally written for viola or voice with piano. These are The Cloths of Heaven and the Sonata. The last work on the album is Nigun from the Suite Baal Shem by Ernest Bloch (1880–1959), an extremely captivating composition; thanks to the cello, its sound gained even more depth. The pieces are performed (and partly arranged) by members of the Fudalarot duo, composed of talented artists: Wojciech Fudala and Michal Rot.
