The tenor saxophone player Steffen Weber is especially fascinated by the freedom of jazz improvising and thus to decidespontaneously what he plays and with what feeling he interprets the music. Influenced by role models such as John Coltraneand Warne Marsh and also by the rhythmic and harmonic concept of Tristano, he has long since found a remarkably concisestyle, which can be heard in his latest project in a modern acoustic jazz with partly putting the main emphasis on traditional andpartly on chamber music. Steffen Weber presents with his latest CD a completely new program almost consisting mostly ofcompositions by himself which the member of the Frankfurt Radio Big Band actually wrote exclusively for his band. The band ismade up of Christian Jaksjø from Norway, also a member of the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, ECHO Jazz Award winnerSebastian Sternal, Weber's fellow student Arne Huber, who has already been awarded with numerous jazz prices and AxelPape, fellow of the Villa Musica and the future initiative Rhineland-Palatinate. Every member is a master on his instrument yettogether they form a unity that impresses with more than just the sum of its parts and exploit Steffen Weber´s compositionalpotentials.
