World's only Hammond Avantcore Band The extraordinary Hammond-trio, Steambaot Switzerland, with their just-released debut album have created a masterpiece from any point of view. The trio takes a new approach in combining the elements of Rock/Metal/HC (Riffs, Power), the dramatic forms of free improvisation, and the sounds and structure of contemporary music. The result is 74 minutes of powerful, accessible Avant-Core and a strong statement for the end of this century. Along with various Rock miniatures from the pen of Zurich-bred Guitarist Stephan Wittwer (SLUDGE 2000), "Live" is comprised of arrangements by the until now practically unknown American composer Ruth Crawford (1930s), the Swiss serialist Hermann Meier (1950s), and Dominik Blum. The trio is devoted to the presentation of contemporary music alongside their Rock lineup - creating an additional fusion of what are generally considered to be two very different aesthetics: the ambient improvisations of the popular music realm (Techno, House) and electro-acoustic music in the tradition of the post-war avant-garde.
