Through this he succeeds in overcoming entrenched and weary jazz conventions. His voice as both a composer and a vibraphonist is enhanced and complemented by the other musicians on the album: New York-based saxophonist and flutist Anna Webber, bassist Igor Spallati, and drummer Tilo Weber. The band manages to perform Kanzler's sophisticated and complex compositions with a visceral sense of ease and fun. The apparent oxymoron "intellectual groove" fits this music perfectly.
