"von hier" - "from here" - is spontaneous composition: music by improvisation, based on a text by Marianne Schuppe after Natalie Sarraute's "ici", a text modelled by the music and vice versa. Voice, vibraphone and violoncello interact in a constant play of covering and discovering the deeper layer of the words. The instrumentation (voice, vibraphone and violoncello), though extremly varied, is surprisingly coherent. In this cosmos the idiom (language and sound) fuses into semantics, blending into one: this unique result has its roots in the different professional and personal developments of Marianne Schuppe (voice), Sylwia Zytynska (vibraphone) and Alfred Zimmelin (violoncello). Marianne Schuppe, born in Germany, lives in Basel. She studied visual arts and music in Germany and continued her vocal studies in Madras and Rome (Michiko Hirayama). She developed a strong taste for literature, working with a wide range of language and text. Sylwia Zytynska, of Polish origin, studied percussion in Poland and Basel, where she lives now. She premierred a large number of contemporary pieces, works in educational projects with children and realized a number of musical concepts and installations. The Swiss Alfred Zimmerlin is active in many fields: as a musicologist, as a cellist in improvised music projects and, predominatly, as a composer.
