The two-disc album contains rich material from keyboard tablatures from the turn of the 17th century. Northern European seaside centres, Gdansk, Oliwa and Braniewo, to which the title of the album refers, were one of the most interesting sources of those tablatures. Handwritten, often by several authors, they contained genre-diverse secular and religious compositions – fantasias, fugues, canzone, transcriptions of vocal pieces as well as dances. Corina Marti arranged them in four elaborate suites, supplementing them with selected works from other tablatures preserved in Polish, German and Austrian collections. An artist performing on several continents, involved in the performance of music ranging from the 14th century to the late Baroque, she creates masterful, expressive interpretations showing the endless possibilities of the harpsichord. From delicate, music box-like tones to almost orchestral sound in energetic court dances. An album for connoisseurs of early music and all lovers of soothing moods.
