Klara Min, piano

La pianiste Klara Min a consacré son premier disque à Scriabine. C'est dire si elle aime les répertoires romantiques tourmentés. C'est donc tout naturellement qu'elle s'intéresse à présent à Robert Schumann. Elle refuse de considérer l'Arabesque comme une simple pièce de salon. Le début du thème principal joué en-dessous du tempo donne à l'œuvre un poids inhabituel, tout comme le fait de suspendre le discours en prolongeant certains accords. La pianiste est très attentive à soigner la ligne de chant (4e Kreisleriana), elle se garde de toute précipitation mais souligne les contre-chants qui occupent une place si importante dans l'écriture schumanienne. Point de folie à la Horowitz dans une première Kreisleriana très contrôlée, mais une mélancolie qui qui se nourrit de la sonorité moelleuse du médium de son piano (5e Kreisleriana). La dernière pièce du cycle dessine la ligne de basse au détriment de l'espièglerie (Schumann indique spielend). Le Carnaval œuvre plus insouciante présente les mêmes qualités pianistiques. On admirera tout particulièrement le nocturne sous-sous-titré Chopin ou l'Aveu délicatement prononcé. Les pièces malicieuses n'ont ici ni l'élan d'un Egorov ni le plaisir gourmand de Nelson Freire. Min privilégie une lecture sensible, admirablement enregistrée. (Thomas Herreng)

Klara Min about Schumann: " I learned to love him in time more than any other composers, most firmly, closely and freely to my heart". Schumann was the first composer who used the word "Arabesque" to name one of his works. It showed new artistic possibilities in piano music accessible to non-professional players. The title "Kreisleriana" is borrowed from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s novels and reflects the closeness of Schumann to the kindred spirit and thought of the Romantic writers. As source of inspiration for the work "Carnaval" the composer used scenes of a masked ball derived from a literary work by J.P.F. Richter. Klara Min was born in South Korea. Today she lives in Paris and New York. Performances in some ot the most famous concert halls around the world and internationally celebrated recordings go along with her career. She was elected as a Steinway artist.
