Described by the press as an ensemble with “strong temperament and communicative sensitivity”, the Pirandello Trio is quickly establishing itself as one of the most dynamic trios of its generation. The Trio’s multicultural background – Greek, Polish, Russian, Italian, British and Swiss – is reflected both in their interpretations, full of colours and in the Trio’s repertoire, from the classical canon to Argentinean tangos and beyond. Schumann came late to Chamber works and the Trio No.3 was written in 1851 in which many of Schumann’s tensions can be felt in the opening movement. Shostakovich made his most powerful statements in his symphonies, it is his chamber works that we gain a more intimate sense of the man and his life. The Piazzolla Otono Porteno is a fine example of the complexity and textural variety of his music and is part of his tango cycle.
