Viennese soprano Cornelia Horak, Stefan Gottfried, piano and Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz set out to unexplored, exciting paths with this new crossover project Dichter.Liebe. Putting Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe into context through the narration of poems from Heinrich Heine’s Lyrical Intermezzo not set to music in his song cycle, these popular songs appear in a new light. Formerly unnoticed, also ironic elements emerge, and sometimes even a genuine dialogue develops between the poet, the protagonist in Schumann’s setting, and the narrator of Heine’s poems. This coincidence of humor and pathos, of (self-) criticism and sentimentality that is so typical of Heinrich Heine, is especially emphasized in this sung and spoken Dichter.Liebe.
