Née en 1963, la compositrice italienne Lucia Ronchetti recherche constamment les collaborations avec des artistes d'horizons différents. Il n'est donc pas surprenant que les quatre pièces de son nouvel opus soient les fruits de son travail avec le superbe ensemble a cappella « Vocalsolositen Neue Stuttgart ». Dans « Hombre de mucha gravedad » et « Mill Hamlet », les instruments se mêlent au chant, enrichissant encore davantage des lignes vocales déjà dramatiques et d'une grande virtuosité. L’intérêt de Ronchetti pour les grandes traditions intellectuelles et artistiques de l'Occident se manifeste parfaitement dans ses quatre pièces qui même à travers le prisme de la comédie baroque deviennent de véritables expériences sonores. Comme Rainer Pöllmann l’exprime dans le livret à propos de « Hombre mucha Gravedad » : «Comme le peintre baroque sur sa toile, Ronchetti développe dans son travail une théâtralité de la gestuelle musicale hors du modèle pictural avec un sens très développé pour la rhétorique et le Theatrum Mundi».

Lucia Ronchetti, born in 1963 in Rome, collaborates intensively with artists from other fields, and therefore, it comes as no surprise that the four works on this release are the fruits of work with the superb a cappella group, the Neue Vocalsolositen Stuttgart. In two of the pieces, Hombre de mucha gravedad and Hamlet’s Mill, the singers are joined by instrumentalists, which enhances and further enriches the already dramatic and highly virtuosic vocal lines. Ronchetti’s interest in the great intellectual and artistic traditions of the West manifests itself perfectly in the four pieces on this release, and the painter Velasquez, the tale of Pinocchio, the Nordic saga of Hamlet and even cooking through the lens of baroque comedy become aural experiences. As Rainer Pöllmann notes when discussing the first work on the CD, Hombre de mucha gravedad, “Like the baroque painter on his canvas, Ronchetti develops in her music a theater of musical gestures out of the painterly template with a finely developed sense for rhetoric and the world as theatrum mundi.”
