Reimund Gerstner as a guitarist in the "Groove Zone" During the past 25 years Reimund Gerstner had the pleasure to play as a double-bass player with all possible musicians of the Swiss jazz scene and beyond that. In this period the studied guitarist had the opportunity to establish himself on the bass in all conceivable jazz-related styles as an autodidact. Thereby his real main instrument led rather a shade existence, while he was playing concerts with musicians like Albert Mangelsdorf and Hank Jones. As it is the case for the author theatre a direct conversion of its ideas was his goal for this CD. In order to be able to realize this, after long time the guitar was again excavated. It was a challenge for the choice-Bernese of German origin to play a leadinstrument like guitar in a formation with such outstanding musicians as Michael Beck, Daniel Aebi and Georgios Antoniou. The compositions on this CD come partly from his feather and put a hommage to jazz greats like Joe Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter or John Coltrane. He also worked on more or less famous jazz standards in order to arrange these up-to-date.
