Gerhard Weinberger has launched a complete recording of Reger’s organ oeuvre on cpo: an auspicious beginning. And for our second release, in which Reger’s chorale fantasias above all occupy the focus, the instruments have again been very well chosen. Not only the Furtwängler & Hammer organ in the Verden Cathedral seems to be especially predestined for Max Reger’s organ music; the Stahlhuth organ of 1912 too enables the greatest possible differentiation with its rich palette in the foundational region of the 16’ and 8’ stops functioning as a very decisive factor in the rendering of the nuanced sound structures in this composer’s organ music.
