POMMELHORSE The word pommelHORSE recalls memories of sadistic gym teachers. Yet thanks to five musicians from Bern, it now takes on a new meaning. Obviously enjoying the sport, they create fresh compositions and music that lingers in the mind. The pommelHORSE is back - but this time it's for pleasure. (Christian Wyss, music journalist) What does a pommelhorse have to do with music? Rock gets caught in the ruck/maul/scrum, balladesque feeling and sudden pauses ensure balance as well as drama while solos provide a touch of twist in the movement and the punchy rhythm section leaves the audience with a peppered sweaty aftertaste. Inspired by a foggy background of jazz and rock, the quintet effortlessly combines contrasts in a collectively created programme that doesn't care much for the way things are supposed to be done. pommelHORSE's first album will be released through UNIT Records. The Release Party takes place during the Tour in Spring 2012.
