Piotr Gryska studied at the Szczecin Branch of the Academy of Music in Poznan at the Faculty of Choral Conducting, Music Education and Rhythmic. From 2003 to 2007, he studied at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz at the Faculty of Composition and Music Theory, where he obtained two diplomas in music theory (2006) and composition under the supervision of Marek Jasinski (2007). In 2012, he defended his doctoral thesis entitled The relationship between music and words in vocal-instrumental music with religious themes, using the example of Eschaton in the discipline of composition at the Academy of Music in Krakow. He is the author of vocal music for a cappella choir, vocal-instrumental and instrumental music – chamber and symphonic. His work has been presented in Poland (including at the Witold Lutoslawski Contemporary Music Festival in Szczecin, at concerts dedicated to the work of young composers at the BWA Municipal Gallery in Bydgoszcz, at the Warsaw Autumn Contemporary Music Festival), as well as abroad in Germany and Italy. Piotr Gryska’s Kyrie was recorded on an album dedicated to the contemporary works of Szczecin composers. In 2007–2010, he lectured at the Szczecin Branch of the Academy of Music in Poznan. He currently works as an assistant professor at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, where he teaches music literature, harmony, instrumentation, counterpoint, musical analysis and introductory composition at the Faculty of Music Education.
