 Un second volume de deux CD et une nouvelle livraison de Sonates pour ce nouveau disque du guitariste italien Mauro Bonelli consacré à l’œuvre complète pour guitare de Niccolo Paganini. 37 Sonates qui sont conçues de façon immuable en deux brefs mouvement, Menuet puis Valse, Rondo, Andante ou Allegretto. Elles sont un peu l’équivalent des études de Czerny pour le piano, réclament une pratique assidue de l’instrument et exigent de leur interprète une virtuosité certaine. Paganini se montre ici plus un technicien de la guitare qu’un inventeur de mélodies. Les thèmes plutôt concis voire pauvres sont ici prétexte à diverses acrobaties guitaristiques, arpèges filants, pizzicatos et tremolos, pyrotechnie que l’on retrouve dans les Caprices. Le second disque comprend la Grande Sonate en la majeur à l’origine écrite pour duo violon guitare puis réarrangé pour guitare seule. La forme est ici plus élaborée. Paganini s’y montre un adepte de la variation (Andantino variato), du panache (Allegretto risoluto) mais est avare de tendresse et de profondeur dans la Romance. Mauro Bonelli semble, lui, déchiffrer les Sonates à la chaîne sans parvenir à y insuffler le charme et l’élégance requis. Quand l’exhaustivité prime sur la qualité d’interprétation. This context contains the compositions for solo guitar, which are divided into three groups: Ghiribizzi, Sonate, and Compositions of various types, including some Sonatine. The recording dedicated to Paganini's opera omnia for guitar is divided into two double CDs, the volume includes the large corpus of the 37 sonatas relating to manuscript 84 and the Grand Sonata (ms. 3), a composition of great importance for its size and technical depth of writing. Mauro Bonelli, for the realisation of this work, used a period guitar with catgut strings, tuned to 415 Hz: nineteenth-century Austrian guitar without a label; the fact that its fretboard can be tilted by means of a peg connects it with the best Legnani-Stauffer tradition.
