AN IMPRESSIVE DEBUT FROM PABLO Pablo's debut album title "here I am" should be construed as a self-confident declaration - this unique quartet has defined its own sound. The album reflects a certain serenity as a whole, a serenity brought forth by musicians who have come up to a rare form of musical talent. Unperturbed by trends, Pablo have developed an independent mélange of styles, powerful and profound at the same time. The band describe their music as pop with depth, well-grounded in folk, blues, and soul. The band is centered around 28-year-old Sara Cantina's voice and her musical dialogue with Sergio Fuehrer's guitar tones. Bassist Claudio Strebel provides the sure enough down-to-earth feel, Simon Zwicky makes for the driving force on the drums. Individual songs receive a particularly mellow touch by guest musician Ambrosius Huber on the cello. The lyrics tell stories about life as it is, about love, hope, and sorrow. Along with the music this results in remarkably mature and poignant-sounding compositions. This intensity makes Pablo's live performances a lasting experience. Internationally renowned jazz guitarist and managing director of Unit Records, Harald Haerter, recognized the potential in Pablo's music and immediately signed them to his label. In doing so Haerter broadened the label's scope from jazz music to acoustic pop.
