Delicacy, lightness, elegance, refinement, tenderness, melancholy, joy, wit, enjoyment… these are the words which come to mind when we listen to the compositions on this recording; the result in sound, thanks to the combination of voice, harp, mandolin, underlines the delicacy of the timbres. The unusual repertory proposed here ideally links two capitals of the musical history of the time: Naples and Paris. Both Domenico Cimarosa and Giovanni Paisiello departed from Naples and its famous conservatories, to launch their international careers. Also Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to whom the second part of the programme is dedicated, showed an interest in the mandolin, mainly in the Lieder: they are found throughout the composer’s catalogue from 1768 until the year of his death.
