Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer (1865–1940) was one of the leading poets at the turn of the 20th century and represented the style of the ‘Young Poland’ period. His poetry is saturated with deep emotion, presents decadent thoughts and attitudes, and contains innovative impressionistic descriptions of nature, in particular the landscape of the Polish mountains. Furthermore, Tetmajer is renowned as the creator of erotic (Polish) poetry, and regarded as an innovator of this genre in terms of bold descriptions of female beauty and the act of love. He wrote of love, passion, nature, landscape and feelings in a very sensitive and delicate manner. He longed for love and dreamt of wonderful delicate experience of female beauty and soul. He never found his everlasting love and never got married. Uniquely, he was able to express a variety of feelings, from delight and love, through doubts and uncertainty, to tearful grief and bitterness. This CD is a collection of songs to the poetry of Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer written by composers his contemporaries.
