The CD from the composer, arranger and saxophonist Matthias Wenger proves that the words of the romantic author E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776-1822) have lost nothing of their currentness. The chapter of the same name, from the book "Kreisleriana", is embedded in a sound composition consisting of modern jazz and drum n' bass . Rousingly performed from singer Andreas Schaerer in his part as the bandmaster Kreisler, supported from a "small" big-band, strings and harp. The story tells of an event in the life of the bandmaster Johannes Kreisler, who would on a weekly basis invite his friends to an improvisation of music and word. As, in an act of misfortune, strings of the piano are broken, Kreisler is forced to find new melodies and through this opens unexpected musical directions. Matthias Wenger takes the listener on an individual fantasy journey were the bandmaster is driven to the borders of madness. The 12 person ensemble distinguishes itself through its homogeneity as well as the soloistic independence of each musician. The casting of the band was by no means coincidence. Each timbre is consciously chosen and implanted by the composer. This is easily identifiable through the musicians' pleasure in playing and their energy which in turn gives the CD the feeling of a live concert. The recordings skillfull execution and mixing was done by Martin Ruch of the company Weltschall. "Kreislers musikalisch-poetischer Klub" will be released under the swiss label Unit and in the shops from the 9th february 2007.
