Roman Janoska (v)
Franz Janoska (p)
Julius Darvas (b)
Ernst Grieshofer (dr,perc)

Something happened in the Bavarian village of Straubing in the spring of 2004, which otherwise only rarely occurs there: an auditorium filled to the last seat celebrated a violinist, who just turned 15, with standing ovations. He had just competed for the prize for the next generation the festival "Jazz at the Danube", which he then won convincingly. The time came one year later. After the band had polished its program untiringly, worked out numerous pieces and arrangements and rehearsed them in front of audiences, they took the real “test” in the studio. Roman Janoska, born in Bratislava in 1989, has played violin since he was five and is currently studying at a conservatory in Vienna (in the class for “especially gifted"). He has already won numerous prizes, including the "Paganini Prize" of Bratislava. His brother Franz Janoska (born in 1986) is also studying in Vienna and has also won numerous prizes in piano compositions. The two brothers have been playing together as nucleus of the group since their childhood and both share a fervent passion for jazz. But the music traditions of southwestern Europe are also unmistakable. Kindred spirit on acoustic bass and discoverer of the two brothers is Julius Darvas, almost a senior citizen in the band at 29. He is a member of the Viennese National Opera (stage orchestra), but has also recorded successes in jazz competitions (2003 winner of the International Jazz Bass Prize Budapest: one jury member was none other than John Pattitucci). Most of the compositions are from his pen and that of the pianist. Ernst Grieshofer lives in Graz and is a member in various jazz groups. He is an unusually versatile drummer with a clear weakness for Cuban rhythms and those from Latin America in general. Consequently, his set also includes numerous percussion instruments, which he plays parallel to the drums! The recordings were made quasi "live" on two days. Overdubs or other technical "tricks" were completely superfluous. You can almost only recreate the experience of hearing the unbridled joy of playing and the technical brilliance of the musicians in "first takes". Star violinist Roby Lakatos is also filled with enthusiasm for the recording: "Congratulations on this stunning mix of gypsy, jazz and classical music... great sound, great technique, great musicians."
