After many years of playing in other formations, Lester Menezes formed his own trio with Dominique Girod and Norbert Pfammatter, two musicians who he greatly values.The idea for the trio originated out of the need to have his originals sensitively interpreted. The repertoire was later expanded with music from other sources.Lester Menezes was born in 1967 in Mumbai, India. He became a Fellow of the Trinity College of Music, London in 1988 (F.T.C.L.).He graduated in 1994 from the Berklee College of Music, Boston with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition; he received the John Dankworth Award for Jazz Composition. He has performed with Lionel Hampton, Hermanes Abreu, Matt Garrison, Matt Renzi, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Marco Djordjevic, Amit Heri, Thomas Achermann, Daniel Pezzotti, Tony Renold, Peter Eigenmann, Roman Dylag, Nat Su, Reto Suhner and others.Currently he teaches at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz in Basel, Abteilung Jazz.
