Philipp Furtwängler (1800–1867) and Alfred Führer (1905–1974) built more than 80 organs in North Germany, several of which have been extensively restored by Bente Orgelbau over the past years. To demonstrate the multifacetedness and timbre of these newly renovated organs, the Hamburg organist Matthias Neumann has visited three of the most exciting instruments, playing on each works by the great German masters from the baroque era to romanticism. The compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johannes Brahms, Christian Heinrich Rinck, August Gottfried Ritter and Dieterich Buxtehude are testament to how both the sound of the organ and the various forms of compositional style have changed over time.
