The first laboratory experiments were designed to find a characteristic sound for Kapelle Kessler and proved very promising: the Sisera-Hellmüller pairing, which already had great chemistry, exceeded all expectations. But the Vals Valley compound, consisting of expat Kessler and local Mengis, also contributed to the mix. In a late reaction, Tobias Schramm eventually joined the band. Then the sound began to ferment, forming a thick, bubbling soup; and since those first experiments, the compositions by Kessler and Hellmüller with inputs from their bandmates have taken on a life of their own, procreating, cross-breeding and disintegrating only to fuse again.
