The musical travelogue has already become a trademark of Winter & WIinter. The sound stories about Venice, Paris, Shanghai, New York and havana have been huge inter-national successes and belong to the most unique and unmistakable works of WINTER & WINTER. Since many years the plan existed to create a musical travelogue about Istanbul. In 2018 the time was right — Mariko Takahashi and Stefan Winter stayed for over a month in Istanbul to collect soundscapes and almost forgotten folk songs and classical Turkish music. Istanbul is the interface between orient and occident. The noises and urban sounds in connection with Turkish, Armenian, Kurdish and Macedonian songs as well as nomad chants belong to the culture of Istanbul like the centuries old architecture which made a great impression on the Swiss architect le corbusier one hunderd years ago. The blind accordion player Muammer Ketencoglu and the classical Turkish kanun player Serkan Mesut halili open a musical treasure box.
