Having a soft spot for the 10th Muse, I have tendencies to have loose connotations between sound and image. Vibrations of the air, produced by a source of sound, send an impulse to the brain and a machine triggered by such a stimulus starts producing images. This is known as ‘synaesthesia’. This situation, closely tied to the human’s physiology, creates a completely new movie narration. When I was working on C. Saint-Saëns’ and Piotr Moss’ series, my machinery creating images was triggered. I remember a movie that had made quite the impression on me. Christopher Nolan’s Inception from 2010, exploring Junge’s area of the ‘psychology of depth’, who dwells on the subject of human unconsciousness. The original thought included in the movie is the concept of a foreign idea appearing in the mind of a sleeping person, that he accepts as his own. Let’s get back to the recordings featured on this album. Music – one of the most abstract forms of art (‘abstract painting’ comes straight from it, starting with Kandinsky) – is a perfect ground for ‘inception’ to take place. While listening to C. Saint-Saëns and Piotr Moss I have the feeling, that one of the composers dreams the other’s dream. I encourage you to discover the traces of ‘inception’ narrated by our album.
