Metal brass music, played by highly energetic improvisors, put together by means of modern composition. A sound between head banging and bright interactions. A fabric of absurd and constantly changing music. Carl Ludwig Hübsch has put together his octet under the name “hübsch acht“ for the SWR NEW JAZZ MEETING 2012. The compositions, written especially for improvising interpretators, was premiered after a week of intensive rehearsals in Freiburg. The concerts of this project took place in Freiburg, Köln, Mannheim and Zurich and were recorded by the SWR. Two french clarinet players Isabelle Duthoit and Joris Ruehl, Dutch trombonist Wolter Wierbos, the Berliners Matthias Schubert (Sax) and Christian Lillinger (Drums) as well as the Cologne based musicians Philip Zoubek on piano, Joker Nies on electronics and Carl Ludwig Hübsch himself on tuba bring the compositions to live.
