Georges Ivanovitch Gurdjieff est certainement l’un des plus grands maîtres spirituels de la première moitié du XXe siècle. Son association musicale (et extra-musicale) avec Thomas Hartmann, compositeur russe et disciple du maître, donne naissance à de courtes compositions pour piano, accompagnant parfaitement le pensée de Gurdjieff.
