Grokking Improvisations s'est développé à partir d'une session d'enregistrement totalement informelle dans la grande salle de concert du Concertgebouw de Bruges le 8 février 2017. Après un bref soundcheck, trois numéros ont été enregistrés spontanément sans aucun plan préconçu. L'auditeur découvrira une conversation inspirante qui s'est développée de manière intuitive. Le mot « to grok » est un néologisme de l'écrivain américain de science-fiction Robert A. Heinlein. Il est tiré de son livre Stranger in a Strange Land (1961). « Grok » signifie atteindre une compréhension complète de quelque chose par intuition, ou parvenir à une concordance harmonieuse par empathie. Il est possible de créer des expériences musicales qui ne peuvent être exprimées par des mots ; « grokking », un mot presque totalement inconnu et curieux, semblait donc approprié pour cette production.

Grokking Improvisations developed out of a completely informal recording session in the main concert hall of the Concertgebouw in Bruges on 8 February 2017. After a brief soundcheck three numbers were recorded spontaneously without any preconceived plan and the listener will discover an inspiring conversation that developed intuitively. The word to grok was coined by the American science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein in his book Stranger in a Strange Land in 1961. To grok means to attain a complete understanding of something by intuition or to reach a harmonious concordance through empathy. It is possible to create experiences in music that cannot be expressed in words; it was because of this that the almost completely unknown and curious English word grokking seemed to be an appropriate title for this production.
