For Pascal Galeone, the confines of the song became too small already a long time ago. The Swiss singer experiments with his voice, explores textures, plays with moods. This comes as no big surprise, given that he has studied with greats of vocal improvisation such as Norma Winstone or Lauren Newton. Since then, he has, for more than a quarter century now, steadily developed his style of floating, emotionally dense creation, which he continues to refine with his quartet. "Per Mano" is a double-album of contrasts, half of it following the original plan of existing compositions, which are then spontaneously elaborated on in trio-improvisations comparable to a suite. At Pascal Galeone's side: Guitarist Franz Hellmüller, bassist Stefano Risso and drummer David Meier. These three make sure that the idea of a subtle chamber-jazz-sound becomes musical reality.
